We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Yimo Han has been selected as a JMR Distinguished Invited Speaker at the 2025 MRS Spring Meeting. This prestigious recognition is awarded by the Journal of Materials Research (JMR) to honor leading and early career scientists making significant contributions to the field of materials science.

Dr. Han will present her group’s cutting-edge research at the MRS Spring Meeting in Seattle, highlighting recent advances in 4D-STEM and its applications in nano-catalysis.

Congratulations to Sara! She received the Best Poster Award at M&M 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio, where she presented her work on graphene-covered cryo-EM grids.

In collaboration with Prof. Matt Jones from the Chemistry Department, Han Lab has received a joint Seed Award from the Center for Nanoscale Imaging Sciences to develop new electron microscopy techniques for studying colloidal nanoclusters.

Adan has received a travel grant from the Applied Physics Program to support his travel to the Microscopy and Microanalysis Conference this summer to present his recent work on denoising 4D-STEM datasets.

Chuqiao has been awarded the prestigious Best Thesis Award in the MSNE department for his outstanding academic work.

Sara has been honored with the Innovation Fellows award from the Liu Idea Lab for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Lilie). Congratulations to Sara!

In partnership with the Rice Office of Innovation, the Liu Idea Lab of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Innovation Fellows Cohort is tailored to empower Ph.D. students and postdocs to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications. By offering mentorship, funding opportunities, and access to industry experts, the program equips participants with the tools and knowledge needed to transform their innovative research into tangible solutions that address pressing real-world challenges.

The interdisciplinary team will focus on multiferroics, materials with distinctive electric and magnetic properties that carry transformative technological potential. Specifically, the researchers will seek to leverage the spin and charge of electrons in multiferroics in order to process and store information. Han Lab will perform advanced, atomic-level imaging to help improve and debug the material.
